Manual Therapy

at Origin Rehabilitation Physical Therapy Clinic in Mint Hill, NC

What is Manual Therapy?

Manual Therapy is a broad term for hands-on treatment.  Having received advanced training and instruction, the clinical staff at our Mint Hill physical therapy clinic use specific treatments to improve mobility of joints & soft tissue like muscles and ligaments.  It can also be used to reduce swelling.

Broadly, goal of manual therapy is to reduce pain (either acute or chronic pain) and reduce the need for medications that mask pain.  Through this process, we create greater freedom of mobility in the problem area.  From there, we can stabilize (with other treatments) and strengthen movements to prevent re-injury.

How Will Manual Therapy Help Me?

Manual therapy is often a critical part of “putting the fire out.”  Because manual therapy is safe, intended to relieve pain, and non-invasive, our patients frequently notice fast pain relief during the very first visit.

Using manual therapy skills, your physical therapist will gain a more detailed understanding about how your muscles and joints are moving (or not) and be able to provide specific correction.  These techniques are designed to improve range of motion, improve mobility, reduce swelling, and reduce pain.

The result is improved ability to live the active lifestyle you want.
